Are there other fees due after I've purchased my package?

Our pricing is 100% as you see it. Meaning, as long as you pick and pay for the items that are actually a part of filing your return, there are NO OTHER FEES!!!!

We have heard cases of some other tax preparation companies “luring” you in with $29 to file rates and then tacking on a bunch of other fees.  We hate that!

The only time we will ask for additional funds is if something is different than what you purchased.  Common examples are:

  • You moved from one state to another and forgot to buy (2) states for this years’ filing.
  • You have (5) dependents and only bought (1) $48 dependents package.
  • You believe that you can e-file, but you were a victim of fraud and now are forced to paper file by the IRS. We will have to collect the paper-file fee (but, if you bought our Peace of Mind Guarantee, we will also help you get everything straight with the IRS re: the fraud on your account for up to (4) hours!!)

How do your prices compare to the "other guys"?

We list our full prices.  We don’t like hidden fees, additional processing items, etc, etc, etc.  We have seen competitors lure people into filing with them for $29 (or even free!!) and then when you go to leave you are paying $150/$250/$1400!!!! (the largest bait and switch pricing real live example we’ve ever heard from a client!! Jeez!))

With that being said, our pricing is in line with what our clients tell us they’ve paid at “those other places” by the time they are done and walking about the door.

Why is there an extra fee if I am married?

If you are married there is typically additional work to be performed, so we increase our fees to adjust for this.  This could include additional items like:

  • Extra income items (more w-2’s, interest income, dividends, social security statements, etc.)
  • Extra deductions (more medical expenses, charity donations, etc.)
  • Extra filing requirements in some states.

If I am married, but my spouse has no other items, do I still have to pay the extra fee?

Yes.  In some states there are extra filing requirements, and therefore additional work to be performed.

The $48 fee for dependents - is that per dependent?

No. This $48 covers up to 4 dependents.

If you have more then this then please add additional $48 fees for every group of 4 children above the basic 4.

Example: if you have 6 dependents (parents/children/other), you would purchase (2) $48 dependent packages.

The $48 fee for Local/City Tax Filing Requirement - what is this?

In some states you also may have to file local & city tax returns.  If your state has this requirement please pick $48 PER city/locality that has to be filed.

A common example is for clients who live in OH. OH residents pay state & city taxes.

I have an LLC, am I a schedule C? schedule E? What am I?

Most commonly if you have an LLC and you are the only owner of the entity AND you have NOT elected to be taxed as something else (like an S-Corporation or C-Corporation) then you are taxed as a schedule C.

Schedule E is for LLC’s, single owners, same as above with no special elections, that own rental propertie(s).

We suggest that you review last years’ tax return to see how your LLC was reported last year  (if you had it last year).  If you are still unsure, or you have a new LLC this year feel free to book a call with us or check with your attorney on how they setup your LLC to be taxed.

NOTE: if you are taxed as an S-Corporation or C-Corporation Tax Goddess Business Services, PC (our sister company) would be a better fit for your tax preparation needs.

If I have an S-Corporation (1120S), Partnership (1065), or C-Corporation (1120) can I use TaxGoddessExpress

At this time TaxGoddessExpress is not setup to handle these entity types.

As you know, at any time your return may be chosen for an audit by either or both federal or state authorities. Understand that we cannot ensure that your tax return will not be audited.

In the unlikely instance that you are contacted by the IRS or any state agency, we offer our Peace of Mind Guarantee so that you will never need to worry, stress, or deal with the hassles.

The Peace of Mind Guarantee is a specialty service that you can purchase on top of your base package price and it provides 4 hours of CPA-level assistance with any IRS or state issues – including hassle-free communication on your behalf with whoever has contacted you.

The Peace of Mind Guarantee can be purchased for $214 per return.

Please note that this is a special offer that must be purchased at the same time as you purchase your tax return package and cannot be added on at a later time.  If, at a later date, you find you need additional services in this area, we would be happy to assist you at our hourly tax rate under a separate engagement letter for that specific purpose.

If I don't purchase the Peace of Mind Guarantee, does that mean I have to answer the IRS myself should I get audited?

Yes, that is correct. If you do not wish to speak with the IRS/State authorities you will need to purchase the Peace of Mind Guarantee option.  NOTE that this covers a maximum of 4 hours.  If you need additional services beyond that you can purchase them at an hourly rate of $250/hour.

What is the Paper-file requirement for $50/return?

In some cases you may be required by the federal or state authorities to file a paper return.  This could be because of identify theft, married filing separate issues, or you personally choose to file on paper rather than e-file.

If you are required to file paper (and know this ahead of time*) please purchase this option at $50/return (1 return = federal & 1 state).

*In some very rare instances (like fraud) we find out after you have purchased your package that you will be required to file on paper.  We will reach out to you in this case to collect the additional $50/return fee.

How do I get a copy of my return? And what if I want a paper copy?

A copy of your return will be securely emailed to you for signatures and a copy for you to keep.

If you want us to print a paper copy and securely mail it to you we will charge a $50 fee/return.*

The $50/return fee includes (1) federal and (1) state.

Can you mail my return to the government for me (if it's paper)?

No. We cannot assist you with this service. We will mail the return to you for the necessary signatures and you will be required to mail it yourself.

We suggest certified with registered receipt for proof of mailing. Keep this for your records.

How do I know if I need to buy additional states? ($67/state fee)

There could be many scenarios in which you may need to purchase additional states.  They include but are not limited to:

  • If you owned rental properties in another state besides your “home” state
  • If you worked in multiple states
  • If you lived in multiple states
  • If you moved during the year (between states)

NOTE: If, after receiving your information, our team determines that you will need to file in another state, we will reach out to you for payment for this work.

Are there any cancellation fees after I've started the process?

Yes.

We begin to setup & process your account immediately on payment from you even if you haven’t submitted any paperwork to us (Step 1).

When we bring on a client we allocate resources, staff, and systems to handle your tax preparation work.  In submitting payment to us (Step 1) you begin a chain of work, events, allocations, and scheduling.  Please note that because of this we must charge a cancellation fee depending on the stage of your project per this engagement letter.  This cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund of fees if applicable per the chart below. In submitting payment to our firm you are agreeing to these terms without exception

Our cancellation fees are as follows:

After Step 1 (purchase of the package): $50

After Step 2 (signing of the engagement letter): $75

After Step 3 (submission of your information/documents): 100% of the price of your return (since our team will already be processing and completing your files at this step).

Can Tax Goddess Express help me if I have foreign assets, pensions, cryptocurrencies, insurance or any other sort of financial account (like bank accounts for example)?

No, Tax Goddess Express is not built for client that have, in any way, a foreign “tie” (such as assets, income, accounts, etc.).
